Tribute to a quilter….

Michael and I are traveling in Mozambique (with little internet), so please join me on a tour of my studio art!!!!

Hopefully, this is the last of the Studio Art tour days. We should have arrived home yesterday so hopefully I can get back to normal posting soon!!

This final piece of “art” is a tribute to my Mom…..

As I have shared before, she was a prolific quilter and proud member of her local quilt guild.

This was her name tag from the guild….

She was also involved in an organization called the “American Business Women’s Association”. This group taught her how to be a leader and greatly increased her confidence. It was a special group for her and this is her pin from there as well.

It is fun to have her hovering at the top of my design wall!!

Infinite Possibilities

Michael and I are traveling in Mozambique (with little internet), so please join me on a tour of my studio art!!!!

I have mentioned my friend Deb in several posts and that is because she is a MASTER at finding inspirational things and then passing them along!!

Her forte is in finding wonderful cards and then actually sending them!! I find them but often never get them sent out!!!

The front of this particular card was so sweet that I decided it needed to be saved. After standing it up on my shelf for several years, I finally cut the front off and attached it to a black foam core board square……

It is such a happy reminder that I can do ANYTHING that I want!!!

Postcard Art….

Michael and I are traveling in Mozambique (with little internet), so please join me on a tour of my studio art!!!!

Back in 2007, Michael and I spent 2 months in Oxford England.

While there, I was able to visit with a woman who I had met online before the trip began. Her name was Kandy Newton and I spent a MARVELOUS day visiting her home…

….her village

… and strolling down her quilting journey!!

She was a master of Postcard quilts and I was so excited when this one arrived in the mail…..

It hangs happily on my studio wall, reminding me of the special day that I spent with Kandy!!

A favorite grouping….

Michael and I are traveling in Mozambique (with little internet), so please join me on a tour of my studio art!!!!

I love this sweet grouping of objects….each with a special place in my heart…..

The HUGE jar of buttons was from my Mom’s stash, although I know that a bunch of the buttons came to Mom from HER Mom!!

The spool of thread and Mason Jar are also from Mom’s sewing room.

The other three objects were made/given to me by very special friends and they each make me smile!!!

The “possibilities” butterfly

Michael and I are traveling in Mozambique (with little internet), so please join me on a tour of my studio art!!!!

My friend, Deb, finds the best motivational gifts and she presented this wonderful butterfly to me for my birthday on year……

There have been many times that I have looked up from my disaster, seen this butterfly, and returned to my project ready to turn it into something great!!
