Quilts and Other Stuff from Frances

Guild Programs and Workshops

One of my favorite things in quilting is sharing my knowledge and excitement with others. These are the programs and workshops that are available.......

Viewing the World
Thru
Quilt Colored Glasses

Let’s travel across five continents looking at how we, as quilters, view the world.  We will talk about  the places where we gain inspiration, whether it be as exotic as a palace in India, or as mundane as a high school dance in Georgia.  Finally, we will explore methods and ideas for turning those inspirations into wonderful quilts.

Beginning Machine Quilting Workshop

In this one day workshop we will explore the joys of using a home sewing machine to quilt your beautiful tops.  We begin the day with information about setting up your machine and about the importance of basting.  We then practice quilting using the Walking foot for straight lines, quickly progresing to the elusive free motion quilting using a darning foot.   In the afternoon, we will continue to practice (either on a piece of muslin or on a quilt top of your choice).  Along the way, we will talk about threads, needles, marking and the process of selecting designs for your quilts.

Basic sewing supplies are needed, along with a walking foot and darning foot that will fit your machine.

Duration:  6 hours
