Today, let’s finish up the handwork division at the International Quilt Festival….
This group of 12 quilters showed us some beautiful Spanish tile designs!!
./..
While the piecing on this quilt is incredible, the quilting is what really shines thru…..
…
Have a closer look at these appliques…..
….and this awesome binding technique…..
…
I always expect handwork quilts to be traditional but it was fun to see several that moved away from the traditional ideas…..
The makers were tasked with designing a window with a bird as a gatekeeper.
Isn’t this fun!!
…
And I know that you saw the parrots, but did you see the cats??
…
I struggle to see the Eel in this quilt because I am too busy looking at the quilting!!
…
I love the number of these quilts that were made by groups of quilters.
That is a tradition that we quilter’s need to bring back!!
…
The quilter added SO many fun touches…..
…
Each artist appliqued roses on a piece of the window frame and those were sewed together to make this piece through teamwork!
Well, that does it for handwork!!
Come back tomorrow and we will start the Applique Category!!
