AWS Paducah – Beyond Abstraction

These were the first quilts that I glimpsed as I entered the 2nd hall…..

“Freedom’s Cascade” by Erika Carter

This quilt was fun to view, especially when you looked closer and saw that it was made up of a bunch of scrap strips….

Now….THAT is what I want to do with my strips….to heck with making standard strip quilts!!

…..

“Cellular Structure VI (Stack of Six)” by Sue Benner

There are always one or two science “nerds” who make amazing quilts that I don’t understand at all, although I am sure that my Geneticist husband could immediately tell me.

…..

“Neon Radial” by Audrey Esarey

I am infatuated with Audrey Esarey’s quilts. They are everything that I have always wanted to make!!

…..

“Come Color With Me” by Dianne Hire

…..

“Submergence” by Erika Carter

Here is another outstanding use of strips from Erika Carter. Now, THIS one I MIGHT be able to make!!

…..

“Revolutions” by Carol Taylor

This quilt is a wonderful example of improv piecing at it’s best!!

…..

“Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Marion Huyck

I had never really thought about the design of Ginkgo leaves, but now I can’t get them out of my mind!
