One of my favorite things about quilting is motivating others and helping them in their quilting journey. As part of this endeavor, I LOVE to present programs and workshops to groups and guilds around the world. All of my programs work well with Zoom meetings, and I would love to speak to your group.
This past weekend I took you on a walk around the show floor of my local guild show. This weekend, we will continue that walk……
This is one of the cutest in the show….
“Rainy Day Dog” by Scarlett Dunne
Scarlett has just started doing collage-style quilting, and I can’t wait to see where she will take it!!
…
This next quilt is a great example of collage quilting….
“Bob’s Lily” by Janelle Lang
…
“Colorful Scotch Plaid”by Jeanine Henry
The colors in this quilt just make me smile!!
…
“Pretty Flyer” by Marian Newcomer
This magnificent quilt was made from a kit. Marian said that it gave her a “run for her money” but she conquered it in the end!!
…
My friend Sheila is a magnificent long-arm quilter, and she loved featuring the Karlee Porter “Graffiti Quilting” designs……
“Pretty In Pink” by Sheila Shepherd
…
There are TONS of 1/2-inch squares in this quilt featuring Taylor Swift…..
“Swift” by Karry Weaver
I am so excited because Karry (our programs chairman) has organized a Zoom lecture from Dee Bushrod of “Pixel Quilts”. She is the one who developed this technique, and I can’t wait to hear from her!
…
Finally for today, this quilter is one of the most innovative in our guild….
“Chosen Home” by Rosell Crockett
When making the quilt, she came up with the excellent idea to weave ribbon thru the fabric to show the windows of the high-rise….
…
One of my favorite parts of the show was when my daughter and her friend brought grandson, Archer!!
We love how he walks with his hands on his hips!!
We are slowly working our way around the frames…..
Come back tomorrow for more!!
……………………………………………………………………………..
Do you struggle to decide what to quilt in your blocks? If so, check out my FREE series…..
Since yesterday’s viewing was so much fun, let’s continue working our way around the quilt frames of the Cotton Patch Quilt Guild Show…..
“Bird Love” by Sue Lawrence
Sue used paper piecing to make the birds, and quilted the other designs in the alternating blocks. But, since they didn’t show up enough, she colored them in…. VOILA!!
…
This gorgeous applique is from another member who I have just met…..
“Rose of Sharon” by Marian Newcomer
There is some fantastic hand applique in this quilt!!
This next one is also a new member and was awarded the “Viewer’s Choice” award and it certainly deserved it!!
“Dana’s Art Deco” by Chris Arthur
…
This quilt is from our Show Chairman…..
“Graffiti Quilting in the Garden” by Sharon Rockholt
In this brightly colored quilt, Sharon used the design to highlight the center fabric block and the top to play with graffiti quilting. Great job!!
…
“Dance of 500 Squares” by Suzanne Reeves
To put this quilt in perspective, it is 18″ by 18″!!!! Yes, each of those tiny squares started out at 1″!!
…
Laura has a unique technique in her quilts. She uses alcohol inks on paper to achieve the design she wants, then has it printed on fabric….
“Blue Bouquet” by Laura Leiden
She then adds the quilting to accentuate the designs…..or “de-accentuate” in the bottom of this piece!!
…
This quilt caught my eye EVERY time I walked passed it (and I probably passed it 200 times during the show)…..
“Tequila Sunrise” by Suzanne Reeves
I don’t know if it was the color or the designs but it had me mesmerized!!
…
Josie is another new member who shadowed me in the set up of this year’s show…..
“Gothic Queens” by Josie Ver Steeg
She is donating it to a local non-profit whose mission is suicide prevention!!
…
Today we will end with this modified One-Block Wonder quilt.
“All Hallow’s Eve” by Pat Schroder
I am sure that you have seen “One Block Wonder” quilts made from panels…you buy 7 panels, stack 6 of them up, cut your “wonder” blocks, and keep the 7th for the center.
Pat decided to use place mat panels instead of quilt panels. The result is a perfect wall-hanging for Halloween!! Oh….she loves cats, so that fits her as well!!
OKAY….I am now about half way around the frames so we will continue this journey next weekend.

As much as I love to travel, this suitcase quilt definitely caught my eye…..
“Packed and Ready to Go” by Denise Siegel
And even better, the fabrics used feature some of her travel experiences!! What a fun idea!
…
I showed this quilt in my video, but it is a favorite. It is just SO bright and sunny….
“Crazy Daisy” by Charlene Gaddis
…
Anne Marie is a newer member, and I am truly enjoying her art….
“Look What I Saw at the Zoo” by Anne Marie Vencill
The detail in the bees is astounding!!
…
I love the modern look of this quilt by Fay…..
“Picnic Petals” by Fay Rawls
…but especially enjoy the print fabric mixed in with the solids!!
…
This next one is a design that I would love to piece…..
“Spangled” by Karry Weaver
The colors look so FRESH!!
Well, I have only made it around about 1/3 of the show, so come back tomorrow for more from “A Journey in Quilts – 2025” by the Cotton Patch Quilt Guild of Athens, GA!!
