This 3rd-place winner was another example of wonder collage work.

This masterpiece from Kestrel Mchaud has been seen at Houston in previous years, but it is very well done and deserved the Blue Ribbon.

This is another fabulous creation from the collage quilters for New Tapei City. I would LOVE to be part of their group and learn how they bring so much realism to their works.

More than once, I have stood looking up at a greenhouse structure and thought that it would make a fantastic quilt. And YES, it does!!

Outstanding Quilting…..

I honestly still don’t understand what the “Quilter’s Choice” division is, there were some great quilts here…..

The composition with the inset area adds so much to this piece. It was awarded the 2nd place ribbon.

The INTENSE thread painting on this quilt gives it an interesting texture…..

I particularly like the bright colors on top of the dark background. It is very striking.

As you might imagine, it won the Blue Ribbon!

This was a unique piece and caught my eye every time I walked past it.

Next up….. Small Wall – ART!!

Moving on to quilts quilting on a longarm machine….

I love an old windmill, and this one, using a Dresden plate for the blades, won me over.

And of course, anything with the word “Mandala” in it is going to need a second look!!

This quilt won the “Best Wall Quilt – Moveable Machine” award.

The gradation of colors in this quilt was outstanding, not to mention all of the details……

I love that she seamlessly mixed wool applique and piecing!!

It loved the whimsy of this fun piece.

Sadly, I was running out of time when I got to this category, so there aren’t as many photos, but having said that, there were only 12 quilts in the division!!

I love how realistic the rocks look in this 3rd place quilt.

Amy is known for her TINY quilts, and the 256 log cabin blocks in this 34×34 inch quilt showcase her amazing talent!! It was awarded a 2nd place ribbon.

I first saw this quilt in Houston and am still amazed with the threadwork….probably why it won the “Best Wall Stationary Machine Workmanship Award”
