Flaming U-turns

Last week, we learned to quilt U-turns and saw how much texture could be created with just a few straight lines and arcs.

Today, we will add some curves to the lines, and points instead of arcs…

I like how the points add interest to the design….

I could see a more open version of this would work for sky, land or water.

Stay tuned next week for some flower meanders!!

Do a few U-Turns for great FMQ

Do you have a “go-to” design for big, open background areas?

I DO…..

And it is a U-TURN….or maybe I should say “a whole bunch of U-Turns”!!

It is a great filler for sky or grass

If you need an easy design, try making some U-turns…..

Mix straight & curvy lines for even more texture

Last week, we used curvy lines to make a fun cross-hatch.

This week, we are going to quilt a mix of straight and curvy lines… but on a diagonal!!

Again, you get SO much texture by just quilting simple lines…..

SEE….I told you that you could quilt it yourself!!

Curvy Cross-Hatch

Last week, we spent time making curved lines….

Today, let’s put those curves into use and make a Curvy Cross-Hatch.

I love the texture that simple curvy lines can bring to an open area, either a block or an entire background!

I have one more curvy line design to show you….come back next week!!
