Yes, I am one of the weird people of the world and actually LIKE technology!!!
I love to search and find the best possible solutions to problems and, if they make things easier, then that is just gravy on the mashed potatoes.
Yesterday I needed to make a video presentation that was 3 minutes long and I was DREADING it!! When I film the intros for my Youtube channel, they are normally short and I have one point that I am making. In this video, I had 5 or 6 points that I needed to discuss and I didn’t want a lot of splices.
As I was thinking about all of this in my “thinking place” (ie…the shower),mused how nice it would be to have a teleprompter. And then I wondered aloud “are there free teleprompters available online”. The answer is YES there are tons of them and they work wonderfully!!
I opted for EasyPrompter.
I had already typed my text in Word so all I had to do was copy and paste it into the prompter window and then select the speed that I wanted to go!! It even told me how long the presentation would be.
I knew that the prompter needed to be right under my camera so that I wasn’t looking down all the time and I came up with the solution of setting the computer on top of a small step-stool and having all of that sitting on my cutting table.
This was my view as I filmed……

….this is what it looked like from the camera side…..

….and this is what the camera saw……

How can that NOT be exciting….I know….I am weird!!
I did three takes in total but honestly could have used the first one. The second take was to try out a new microphone and the third one was because I didn’t like how the fabrics looked behind me!!
The video is for Global Quilt Connection, a site where you can go to find names and information of people who are available for online workshops and talks. I will send out more information later in February……
But for now, I will relish my fun technology day!!
