Let’s Make Mandalas!!

As I mentioned in my “More in 24” post on New Years Day, I have been thinking about Mandalas and about how I could bring a Free-Motion-Quilting vibe to them.

But first, I have to get the circle design onto the quilt sandwich…..

I picked my fabrics, cut 15-inch squares from each and made my quilt sandwich….

Once I found the center of the fabric…..

…..I popped a thumb tack through from the back and placed my “circle maker ruler” on top…..

Now it was easy to place my marker in the proper holes and draw the concentric circles….

I wanted my circle to be just a bit larger so I improvised another round. My first step was to measure out from the last circle, adding marks along the outside…..

Then I connected the marks and quickly had another round on my circle.

Now I used my Westalee Crosshair Ruler to draw in the diagonal lines…….

VERY quickly, I was ready to start quilting…..

SO, LET’S GO QUILT A MANDALA……

Overall, I am very happy with how this first quilting session turned out……

Come back next Friday to see the next round!!
