Chengdu Door

Before I show you today’s inspiration, let me set the stage.

When we were visiting in Chengdu, China, we had a favorite restaurant called “Yummy BBQ”!! When you went in you would order a certain number of “skewers”….

….Meat & Prawns……

….. Vegetables….

….or even individual kernels of corn….

But, the best thing about the meal was this plate of dried chilies that you dipped the skewers into…..

It certainly lived up to it’s name of YUMMY!!

Okay….now to the inspiration part……

This was the door leading into the restaurant…..

….and everytime we visited, I would stare at the door and think about…..QUILT DESIGNS of course!!

I pulled this photo into Procreate and drew the lines…..

Wouldn’t that be fun to make??

You could do it in several panels with each panel in a different color way!!

MAN, I wish that I had time to make all of these inspirations into quilts!!

How about you…..what would you do with this design?

.

If you enjoy this blog, please share it with your friends!!!

Thank you…….

  1. As a window transom! Or stained glass panel! Or a carpet runner! Or an etching on a Farmhouse table! Or……

  2. I love this door quilt pattern. Thanks for sharing. Your inspiration reminded me of one of my quilt creations. In the year 2000, one of my daughters was expecting her first child while living in Oxford, England. This meant a baby quilt in the making. As I sat in church each Sunday, I looked at the pattern the tiled floor made and often thought how that could be my design for the quilt. As luck would have it, there was a line of fabric at that time in the Paddington Bear theme. Perfect!

    1. That sounds like a wonderful quilt!! I have photographed MANY church tile floors in my life. They are a great source of inspiration. And you can’t go wrong with Paddington!!

  3. I would make a table runner or a wall hanging. But, I would really like to have an I-pad with Procreate. 😉
