I love being surprised at what I see in my own neighborhood….even in my own backyard!!
One morning as I was out for my walk, I thought that I saw movement in the distance (it was just before dawn so was a bit on the dusky side).
As I got closer, I realized that it was a trio of racoon youngsters…..

I walked about 50 yards further, reflecting on how much fun it was to see them, and LO and BEHOLD, there stood a deer watching me as I passed…..

Then later in the day, we saw this fox in our backyard…..

I know that many, many people love busy and bustling places, but seeing these animals just makes my day!!

When we first moved into this house 36 years ago, there was a roadrunner in the neighborhood, but he soon disappeared.
A few years ago I visited a friend who lives two miles from me, and there were quail in her yard!
Sometimes I see wild (escaped) lovebirds.
But other than those, I never see true wildlife in the neighborhood. I know that coyotes have been seen nearby, but I haven’t ever seen them.
We are very blessed to live in a subdivision but yet have wildlife!!
I wonder if that was a coyote instead of a fox?
No, it is definitely a fox. There is a family of them living in our neighborhood and we love seeing them.
