As I finished up the 2.5-inch scrap top…..

….I was starting to get excited about what kind of quilting I could do on it.
I really wanted to emphasize the red squares and the lighter colored strips where they were housed.
To do this, I started thinking about circles. Something like this…..

Then I thought about adding some arcs on each side of the lighter strip…..

THEN I got the brilliant idea of adding some petal shapes to fill in some of the un-quilted areas…..

At this point I was SURE that this was going to work great so I started quilting.
After finishing this long strip…..

I didn’t like it at all…
THE REASON???
The smaller circles in the red squares pressed down the red squares too much rather than emphasizing them….
AND…..
Those stupid petals that I added….

…..stopped the lengthwise flow of the light colored strip!!
So yes…..I spent two hours one night ripping that quilting out and started over the next day!!!
Come back tomorrow and I will show you the NEW design!!!

I have spent many hours taking out my quilting stitches on my son’s quilt. I feel your pain.
Fortunately, I hadn’t gotten far along before I decided that I didn’t like it!!!
