Applique from IQF – part 2

Yesterday, we spent some time with the applique quilts from the International Quilt Festival. Let’s keep going…..

“Connected to Asia” by Junko Hiranuma

The Celtic work and the HAND quilting is astounding…..

“Rainbows in the Garden” by Patti Snyder

This quilt is a replica of a quilt made in 1855…..how cool!!

“African Crazy Play” by Ann Horton

This quilt was inspired by the quilter’s collection of African fabrics and her desire to do hand stitching. Just look at the details in the blocks….

….and the cute border…..

“Kimono Lovers” by Akiko Yoshimizu

I believe that Akiko has made several of these quilts and they never cease to amaze me.

There are 1,058 girls, all holding hands…..

….and each with her own expression and hairstyle!!

“Circle Love” by Beatrice Gilbert

Beatrice took the circles to a new level using raw silks and pieced organza circles, followed by smaller charmeuse circles, and topped with even smaller hand-appliqued trapunto circles!!

WOW…..

“Remembering ME” by Simone Steuxner

The quilting is wonderful, as expected!!

Now for the Harry Potter quilt that I promised….

“My London” by Marina Panzhinskaya

Linda and I looked at this quilt for several minutes before we started seeing the Harry Potter details…..

“Graphic Flower” by Keith Dommer

The inspiration from this quilt was a shower curtain…..see…..we find inspiration EVERYWHERE!!

The fabric choices were wonderful……

“Love Blooms” by Kari Hawkins

I love the sweet colors in this quilt!!

“Garden Friends” by Lisa Mortell

The embroidery touches on this quilt add so much to the design…..

That’s the end of the Applique!!

Come back tomorrow and we will move onto the Cherrywood Challenges!!
