State of the Studio – 2024

Every year, on December 31st, I look back at my creative year and discuss the “State of my Studio”!!

Here goes….

2024 was definitely the…..

You may remember that it started out as the “Summer of the Scrap”, but quickly was lengthened to an entire year. Honestly, it will probably be a continuing theme into 2025!!

I started the year planning to spend 10 minutes every morning working on scrap quilts, and I finished two tops during the early part of the year…..

These were followed by two more scrap quilts during the summer months……

And then I had a bunch of left over black and white squares, so this quilt materialized…..

I enjoyed working on my Cherrywood Challenge…. “I Remember”….

….and was thrilled to see it hang at Houston….

I was excited that “Catherine Wheel of Color” appeared in two shows, including the coveted International Quilt Festival!!

Although I didn’t get to see it hang, I was also excited that “Sadie the Saddle-Billed Stork” was juried into the Paducah show. Special thanks to Stacey for sending photos….

She also won a Honorable Mention Ribbon at the regional “Georgia Celebrates Quilts” show!!

Toward the end of the year, I finished two quilts. First a baby quilt….

….and a guild challenge…..

I guess that is not too bad of a showing for the year!!

I was also privileged to be part of the “Scrap Summit” and met so many wonderful quilters thru that program.

AND, I provided programs for 8 guilds across the US. Again, these are marvelous ways of connecting with so many amazing people!!

As in most years, I wish that I had done more, but know in my heart that I accomplished all of the things that were necessary!!

AND….there is always next year!!

.

If you enjoy this blog, please share it with your friends!!!

Thank you…….

  1. Setting quilting goals made a difference in my quilting this year. Thank you for prompting me. You are such a positive influencer. I did make my one a month donation for the year. Thanks.

    1. Thanks for the encouragement Christie. I just had a look at your “stash trash” quilts from earlier in the year. I am so glad that you were able to keep it up for the entire year!! I am looking forward to seeing your guild again next month….just wish it were in person!!
