NEXT…..

OKAY….this week has been a little heavy on the philosophical side, but please bear with me for one more day!!

On Thursday, I posted a review of David Allen’s book “Getting Things Done” and discussed a few lessons that I learned from it.

With that background, I want to share that my “word for the year” is NEXT!!

As in…..

One of my biggest frustrations is to finish something and then moon about trying to figure out what I am going to do NEXT!!

Applying some of the principles that I talked about on Thursday has proved to be a solution to the question of “NEXT?”.

So, let’s get back to creativity….what did this solution mean in my studio in January…..

First of all, I plan to spend 20-minutes each weekday morning in the studio….doing something.

But what….. scrap piecing, fabric re-organizing, scrap cutting, or some other task?

Asking “what’s next” led me to look at my list and pick the first project off of the top….the charity quilt that I had struggled to finish!! And guess what…. quilting 20 minutes every day means that the quilt is now FINISHED and ready to be delivered….

“NEXT” also helped me to get off of my rear end and finish the Mandala project quilt…..

….and now I am debating pulling all of this together into a workshop.

‘NEXT” has also encouraged me to drink more water, take a walk around the block most afternoons, and stay up-to-date on my Accounting deadlines.

I think I am going to like “NEXT” as the year progresses.

How about you…..do you have a “word” for the year!!
