Let’s look at Landscapes

Today, let’s have a look at the Landscape category from the International Quilt Festival.

“Canyon” by Roberta Lagmarsini

The maker painted and dyed the fabrics for this great geological quilt!

“Wulai Waterfall” by Ami Lee

I am enamored with the water in this quilt. I have an idea for a future quilt that needs water, so I spent a great deal of time looking at it…..

It looks like it is mostly thread painting with possibly some painting or sheer white fabrics underneath! Interesting!!

She also made good use of snippets in a portion of the quilt….

“Geometric Gardens – Giverny” by Cindy Pryor, quilted by Lori DeNEst

As a huge Harry Potter fan, I love this one….

“The Burrow” by Maggie Ward

As an aside here….we just returned from 10 days in Scotland and got to ride the “Jacobite Train”….also known as the “Hogwarts Express”. I will post the story and photos soon!!

Isn’t the whimsy of this quilt fun?

“Arizona Desert” by Karen West

“Checheng Village” by Fengmeri Li

This is another quilt from the Taiwan quilters who make outstanding collage quilts!!

Finally…..

“Oquirrh” by Ashelyn Downs, quilted by Jen Ostler

This minimalist approach is so effective!!

Tomorrow, we will see a few more quilts….come back!!
