Tuesday is usually my day to share a quilting tip, but today we’re taking a little detour into photography!
While Michael and I walked in the woods of northern Maine, I started noticing tiny red dots in the moss. I bent down for a closer look and discovered little fungi tucked into all that green.
Of course, I pulled out my iPhone!!
I lowered the phone until the camera lens was almost touching the ground and started snapping.

You can’t really see the phone in this photo, so here is a different angle….

The results were amazing! Those tiny dots became the stars of their own miniature woodland world.
Here’s what I could see from where I was standing…

…and here’s what happened when I got low and close!

Just look at all of the texture on the stems!!
Same fungi. Same moss. A completely different view!!
Another example….. it looked like this….

But look at the structue from a different anble….

Check these out too…..

This next one is one of my favorites…..

So today’s tip has two parts…
Use your iPhone! It’s probably already in your pocket, ready to capture something wonderful.
Don’t be afraid to get down and dirty! Bend down, kneel in the moss, or let your phone do the getting low. Changing your viewpoint can change the whole photograph.
Apparently, I went for a walk and came home with portraits of fungi!!
What tiny treasures have you photographed lately?
