Yes, I have been thinking about which project I want to start working on when tax season is over….and after I have started and finished my “Cherrywood Challenge”. I am struggling with the decision.
For over a year, I have been talking about making a quilt based on the carpet from the Holiday Inn in Houston, but frankly, I am just NOT INTO IT!!
I have sporadically done some planning in the past 6 months…..
…even going so far as to make a practice piece….
I realized that I didn’t have enough of the original fabric I had bought…..
…. so I purchased another set….
Even after ALL of this, I am still not feeling it!!
A favorite Podcaster (Kendra Adachi of “The Lazy Genius”) has a brilliant system to categorize her “to-do” list…..
Now……Soon……Later….. and NEVER MIND!!
I am about to decide that this project belongs in the Never Mind category!!
BUT…. on Wednesday, I posted this photo and design idea…..
It was initially just a whim, but now I am starting to think about those original fabrics that I bought (luscious Cherrywood fabrics), and wondering if I could learn to piece Isosceles Diamonds (72-degrees).
I am thinking that this just might be my next project!!
Maybe it’s time to do some research and start making a sample!!
Do you know anything about this type of piecing???

In 2015, Michael and I spent a month in India, primarily residing in a guest house in Bangalore.
However, we spent a few days in the city of Pune at the visitor’s center on the campus of the Indian Institute of Science. Each day, we enjoyed breakfast in a small cafeteria, trying many unusual foods.
Now, what makes that an inspiration???
It was the tile design on the wall…..
It doesn’t have an Indian vibe to it, so I’m not sure why it was there, but it certainly added fun to each morning.
And, after all of these years, I still think about how I could use it in a quilt!!
What do you think??

I spent much of this past weekend being asked questions about how I made the “Catherine Wheel of Color” quilt…..
I decided to track the progress and was surprised to see that I started working on it in 2019!!
It started with this article in a magazine….
I had just bought a new color wheel and was excited to play with it using scraps
Before long I had several “snakes” of color….
Then it kept growing until I had this…..
….but my studio looked like this….
I now needed to find a background for the color wheel, and thought that a grey to black gradation would be perfect.
My first thought was to dye one…..
…but I couldn’t get the gradation that I wanted, so I ended up purchasing fabrics instead.
THEN, I had to figure out what to put inside the color square, and after a lot of searching and thinking, I decided on appliqued circles, using Karen Kay Buckley’s templates….
….and in February of 2020, it looked like this…..
We will stop there for now and continue the saga tomorrow!!
