Intentionally practicing a new design!!

Today we are working through another one of Dorie Hruska’s designs from her book “Floral Confetti”…

If you missed the initial post and video about using this book, you can find it here….

I am happy with how it worked out and can’t wait to show you……

As I said in the video, I am looking forward to using this design (and maybe some others of hers) to fill in some LARGE squares!

Also in the video, I floated the idea of “intentional practice”. This involves trying to do my VERY best, even if the piece is just for practice.

Do you use “intentional practice”?

Sunflower Quilting

I enjoyed playing with another “Circle in a Square” grid design from Dorie Hruska’s book “Floral Confetti”, this time a Sunflower design…….

I LOVE Sunflowers so this was a pleasure to quilt!!!

I like it even better when the thread color matches the background….

While I have enjoyed these last two designs, I have found them to be a bit difficult to work thru. I can see using them in some situations, but I honestly don’t think that I will use them often!!

Circle Grid #2

This week I decided to try another Circle Grid design and picked one from Sue Heinz.

The first time I quilted it I had major tension problems and major stitching problems!!

Don’t you hate that!!!

This second time I did it on camera and you can watch as I stitch…..

If you are viewing this blog post on your email, you will need to click into the actual blog post to see it. For some reason, it won’t embed directly.

Overall, I found the design to be relatively easy to quilt although I REALLY have to concentrate as I stitch!!!

Now to find the next design to try!!!
