Mandala #4 is underway

Today we are going to get started on Mandala #4!!

I must be getting used to designing these because this one came together like a dream!! I am using the same element several times in the design and am very happy with how it is looking.

I finally realized that these Mandala’s are nothing more than GRID QUILTING in a circle…..

It makes it so much easier for me to think one grid at a time rather than looking at the design as a whole!

Enough talk….let’s quilt……

I am loving the circles with lines coming off of each end…..

… and am now thinking about how I can include those in my “regular” quilting!!

This Mandala will only take 3 weeks to quilt so be sure to come back next Friday for the next two rounds!!

Mandala #3 is in the books

Today I am finishing off quilted mandala #3, continuing with the “straight-ish” lines.

Let’s get to quilting…..

I am truly enjoying this series and love how #3 has turned out……

All in all… a REALLY fun exercise.

One of the challenges with this round was figuring out how to quilt it without a million starts and stops OR having to quilt the actual grid line. That is the reason that one of the T’s dips into the previous round.

What will #4 bring…..WHO KNOWS??

Diamonds filled with wishbones

I am getting really excited about how the third quilted mandala is looking.

Today we are going to add some diamonds, and just for fun, fill them in with wishbones…..

Don’t you agree that this Mandala may be the best one yet?

Of course, I have thought that about every one of them!!

Come back next week as we finish off this Straight-ish LIne Mandala.

A New Month….A New Mandala

Today I am so excited to present a new mandala.

Let’s review the first two……

Number one was a mixture of a lot of different designs….

Number two went for a lacy effect….

I REALLY liked that one!!

Today I am starting number three and I am thinking STRAIGHT lines……

Okay…..NOW I am excited about straight lines…..

Come back next week and we will add the next round!!

Intentionally practicing a new design!!

Today we are working through another one of Dorie Hruska’s designs from her book “Floral Confetti”…

If you missed the initial post and video about using this book, you can find it here….

I am happy with how it worked out and can’t wait to show you……

As I said in the video, I am looking forward to using this design (and maybe some others of hers) to fill in some LARGE squares!

Also in the video, I floated the idea of “intentional practice”. This involves trying to do my VERY best, even if the piece is just for practice.

Do you use “intentional practice”?
