Finishing the binding

Yesterday I posted the first part of a two-part series about how to apply quilt binding using a sewing machine.

Today we will finish up the process and get this project marked OFF of my To-Do List……

Check out the video for the “rest of the story”……

It is certainly a wonderful feeling to finish up a quilt so quickly and easily……

Let’s bind by machine!!

I have a love/hate relationship with binding a quilt.

Yes, it means that the quilt is ALMOST finished which I LOVE but I absolutely hate the physical sewing on of the binding…..

….which is why I have developed a method for machine binding that looks great, gives wonderful mitered corners and is easy to do!!!

I have divided the process into two videos….part one today and part two tomorrow…..

ENJOY…..

Come back tomorrow to see this quilt FINISHED!!!!

Yipee…I’m Paper Piecing…

Yes, this title is a bit tongue-in-cheek because I REALLY don’t enjoy paper piecing!!! However, when there is a design that you want to do and you HAVE to paper piece it…..you put on your big girl pants and get down to it!!!

The culprit in this case is this tree…..

…and I want to make TWO of them to decorate my entryway!!!

Since I was having SO much fun with paper piecing, I thought that I would share my enjoyment with you!!!

This is the first of three videos that will detail MY method for paper piecing. In this one I talk about my two favorite tools for this technique….Golden Threads Paper and Add-A-Quarter Ruler…

Come back tomorrow for part 2….preparing the the fabric pieces

Let’s iron those chains!!

We all know that ironing is a BIG part of quilting and sometimes it takes longer to iron than it does to piece. And, woe to you if you don’t get it ironed flat!!!

Back when I was working on the Brown Stripe quilt, I made a video about an easier way to iron when you have been chain piecing. While it isn’t actually a TOOL, it certainly is a technique that will go a long way…..
