Scrappy Quilting

This past week, I worked on a banner that will be used for my upcoming online class called “Let’s Get Scrappy”.

I had a great time making it, and especially loved pulling some leftovers out of my HUGE box of orphaned blocks!!

Once the top was finished, I started thinking about how to quilt it……

I love the “FAUX” border and think that it frames the center perfectly.

Now to start filming the class!!

Why is my fabric not moving??

Today we are looking at another…

Let’s talk about why our fabric feels like it is stuck to the machine base, making our stitches jerky and uneven.

Here are FIVE methods to alleviate this problem…..

Do you have other ideas?

I would love to hear them!!!

Orange Peel Corners!!

Today, I want to finish up the quilting on the Orange and Green quilt, and I have been thinking “ORANGE PEELS”!!

They are fast, easy, and VERY FORGIVING!!

What more can you ask for!!

There is a lot of quilting in this design but it honestly does go so quickly!!

Now I wish I had used this design for all of the border….but….oh well!

IT….IS…..FINISHED

Come back next Friday and we will make a quick trip to Paducah to look at some of the amazing quilting at the show.

From NO marking to GRID marking

Over the last few weeks, we have been quilting on the Orange and Green Charity quilt, doing the quilting with few or no markings.

Today, we are flipping the script and starting out by drawing a grid in place…..

Now, I am going to be honest and say that I am not happy with this quilting.

It isn’t straight AT ALL. I simply couldn’t get the hang of quilting the diagonal lines!!

SO, now I am wondering if I could go in and add something else to the quilting to make the inaccuracies less visible. I will do some more thinking about that!!

Come back next Friday for more!!
