I LOVE a good pieced quilt and the winners at Quiltcon were excellent examples!!
You had to step away from this quilt to see it, but these log cabins…..

….turned into this amazing quilt…..

It certainly deserved the 1st place ribbon!!
Second place was awarded to…..

I had seen this quilt at Houston as well and it is amazing!!
Third place went to this quilt…..

I have seen many of Audrey’s quilts and they are all spectacular!!!
Other favorite quilts from the Pieced Division included…..

This next quilt had a story behind it…..

She added a strip of fabric per day, color coordinated to the mileage that she ran that day. She added a pieced person…..

after a certain number of miles. She said that it was a way to motivate her to continue running!
This next quilt was a drafting mistake that turned into a quilt…..

And look at the number of inset seams and partial seams in this next piece…..

All I can say is “oh my”!!!
This next quilt is based on question marks…..

There is a LOT of piecing in this next quilt…..

One of the things that I love about it is how the quilting hides the way that it was pieced!
This quilt is pleasantly symmetrical….

Come back tomorrow as we view more pieced quilts!!

Thanks for sharing all of these. Spiraling doesn’t have any y seams. Look at the square piece. It’s the center of a very simple block. It’s used to great effect.
You are welcome Vicki. Writing the blog posts helps me to relive the show. You are right…..spiral equals no y-seams…..a good thing!!
These quilts are amazing! I especially love the quilting on the question mark quilt.
