Art Gallery Visit….. Part Two

Yesterday I posted about a solo quilt exhibit from my friend Laura Leiden…..

After enjoying Laura’s wonderful art, I moved across the hall to the school district “Youth Art Month” exhibit. It was such fun to see things that our young people were doing….

These origami geometric designs (5th grade) remind me of quilts…..

It would be fun to try to translate these into quilt blocks!

I loved that these 4th graders were working with fiber…..

This was a fun way to display these “portraits”……

Our first-graders are doing some fun mixed media pieces…..

But, the two that I found the most interesting were created by some of our 4th and 5th grade students.

Just look at this “Ice Photography”…..

and “Light Photography”……

I love both of these!!.

I am SO encouraged with the way our art teachers are teaching our young students to be creative!!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

.

If you enjoy this blog, please share it with your friends!!!

Thank you…….

  1. This is why we need certified art instructors in the public schools. I’ve taught mostly in places where there wasn’t one, but spend 4 months teaching at a school with an art specialist. The difference in creativity was enormous. When there’s a good art specialist, especially one who’s good at collaboration, it rubs off on other teachers in other disciplines. And the students flourish.

    1. I agree Andrea. My D-I-L is the fine arts instructional coach for one of the huge school systems in Atlanta. She was super creative when she was in the classroom and is encouraging other teachers to put some “art” in Art Classes!!
