Small Quilts at QuiltCon

Yesterday we looked at the winners in the Small Quilt category from QuiltCon. Let’s see some more today!!

I am very much enamored with quilts that “hide” circles…..

….and this one is so subtle, it is almost invisible! I hadn’t really thought about this process, but she had to make two IDENTICAL quilts and then inset the circle from one quilt into the other quilt. That is a LOT of work!!

The colors in this next quilt are so muted and subtle…..very different for QuiltCon….

I appreciated that the wavy edges of this next quilt…..

She used foundation paper piecing to achieve this look and WOW….does it pop!!

I applaud this in-depth look at the Venus Fly Trap……

This quilt is a great example of Improv piecing…..

In an effort to reduce her scraps, she went above and beyond by piecing the background as well….

This next quilt was an exercise in using one simple block, repeated over 500 times…..

And guys….these blocks are only 3/4-inch!!

….which means that those quilting lines are less than 1/4-inch apart!!!

This next quilt was in response to the International Quilt Museum challenge, “Modern Meets Modern”….

Our final quilt for today is based on the maker’s favorite place on Lake Michigan…..

I delight in quilts that are made from our memories. They bring a smile to our face every time we pass them in the hall!!
