The words QuiltCon and Scrappy don’t really seem to go together, but this year’s category showed that they CAN indeed.
The rules stated that the quilt TOP must use at least 30 different fabrics.
The first place quilt was amazing and definitely met the requirements….

I absolutely LOVE this design and the way that she used different grids to achieve the movement in the quilt. The strip piecing is so simple but this design makes it shine. Well done!!
The addition of back and white fabrics are the crowning touch…..

Equally exciting, the second place ribbon was awarded to…..

Tara says that “this may be the most ‘me’ quilt I’ve ever made!!”
I particularly like that she used one of the side circles to be the basis for her quilting. The off-centered touch adds nicely to the quilt.
Third place went to…..

I can’t imagine making the curved strip sets, but they certainly worked well!!
This also won one of the Judge’s Choice awards.
Continuing on in the category….

The simple quilting design does a perfect job of highlighting the amazing quilting.
These purple and orange colors really popped……

This would be a fun block to play with…..

The vibrant colors in this next quilt are marvelous…..

She has chosen to represent biodiversity in our world….how a single species can give rise to a very diverse population.
This next quilt takes the simple Half-Square-Triangle and splits it many times….

Finally for today……

As you might guess, I particularly appreciated the FMQ…..

SUCH FUN!!!
Come back tomorrow and we will look at the 2nd set of these fun scrappy quilts.
