Yesterday we got the 2-inch scrap quilt basted and ready to quilt, but HOW am I going to quilt it?
When I designed this alternating block….
……I knew that I wanted to do some sort of fancy quilting in the white spaces.
BUT WHAT??
My first step was to print out the quilt on paper and start playing with ideas
…..but there were too many for me to process!
Next, I moved to my I-Pad, using the Procreate App and came up with a few more ideas……
After a few hours of drawing and erasing, this was my favorite…..
Since I was working on a very small scale, I put a sheet of plastic over the quilt top and tried drawing the design in REAL size…..
That looked like it would work, but I did make one tweak of the pattern.
For the inside echoes, I didn’t bring the points all the way into the previous ones, but instead stopped when I got to the fabric seam.
I like the fact that the petal shapes ended up shorter and fatter!!
