In Full Bloom – Part 1

The “In Full Bloom” exhibit from Martelli is one of my favorites every year!

This year was no exception and so many quilts caught my eye. So, we will start today and finish tomorrow!

“Garden Party” by Kim Keller

The thread painting in the Cone flowers was so well done….

….and there were several critters hidden among the flowers…..

“La Vie en Rose” by Judith Craddock, quilted by Louise Klare

The artist enjoys growing roses in her garden and now designing and appliqueing them onto quilts!!

I loved how the borders were quilted…..

The quilting added so much to the design!

“Baskets In Bloom” by Kathy Heystee, quilted by Rebecca Silbaugh

I particularly enjoyed the various types of flowers that she included in her baskets…..

This next quilt was a bit more abstract…..

“Bouquet” by Cheryl Thomson

“This represents the vibrancy of spring collected into a riot of color and form. Perhaps the joy of it’s beauty is enhanced by it’s fleeting nature”

“Bee-ing Thankful for Sunflowers” by Holly Batterman

This quilt was part of a challenge that required a hexagon, a piece of twine, 2 charms, and three assigned fabrics……what a fun challenge idea!!

I found the hexagon and charms, but I have NO idea where the twine is!!

These flowers make me smile…..

This next quilt was an original design that was professionally printed……

“Magic Flowers” by Susan Smith

She then added free-motion quilting and trapunto to bring the flowers to life!!

Final for today…..

“Spring Has Sprung” by Linda Herrera, Quilted by Sally Miller

I particularly love these simple circle flowers!!

Come back tomorrow for more Quilt in Bloom!!
