Yesterday we made a start on the Pieced Category from the International Quilt Festival.
Let’s do 8 more quilts today…..
Linda and I noticed an inordinate number of “Hexie” quilts….there must have been a memo!!
By the way….it is hand quilted…..
Continuing in the Hexie theme…..
Her challenge was to use the same 12 fabrics in each big hexagon to mimic a color wheel.
Unfortunately, the convention center lights washed out the colors, but this triangle quilt was stunning!!
From triangles to circles (distorted ones)….
Kathy used the technique where you layer 6 panels to create hexagon blocks that are arranged around a 7th panel. The exciting difference in this one was that the “panel” is actually a digital version of a painting by her husband, Ira. What a fun idea!!
This quilt made use of some jaw-dropping machine embroidery
Just look at this border…..
I love the thread colors on the dark brown fabric….
….and the Carousel Horses in the border….
The pattern was drafted with the idea of large open spaces for quilting…..
