Closing the binding….

Every time I have been involved in a judging experience, the judge thumbs a bound corner and says, “binding needs to be sewn shut”.

When I am machine binding a quilt, I always stitch into the corner and then travel over those same stitches to come out again.

THEN I SAW THIS…..

As I was scrolling through YouTube shorts, I came across this “How To Apply Binding” video from “The Sewing Channel”….

I wasn’t particularly interested in the actual process of applying the binding, but I was stunned when I saw this picture…..

WHAT A GREAT IDEA…..

Instead of traveling OVER the previous stitching, stitch up one side and back down the next!!

Now I need to finish a project so that I can try this great technique!!

  1. I follow Tracy on The Sewing Channel and also saw this short video recently. I tried it on a small project and a baby quilt. It works wonderfully! A great tip!
