Finishing the binding

Yesterday I posted the first part of a two-part series about how to apply quilt binding using a sewing machine.

Today we will finish up the process and get this project marked OFF of my To-Do List……

Check out the video for the “rest of the story”……

(IF you receive notification of this blog via email, the video will NOT appear and you will need to click into the actual blog to get to the video. It’s one of those “technical” issues I can’t do anything about!!)

It is certainly a wonderful feeling to finish up a quilt so quickly and easily……

Let’s bind by machine!!

I have a love/hate relationship with binding a quilt.

Yes, it means that the quilt is ALMOST finished which I LOVE but I absolutely hate the physical sewing on of the binding…..

….which is why I have developed a method for machine binding that looks great, gives wonderful mitered corners and is easy to do!!!

I have divided the process into two videos….part one today and part two tomorrow…..

ENJOY…..

Come back tomorrow to see this quilt FINISHED!!!!

Two Quick Binding Tips

Recently I was putting machine binding on a quilt and learned two important things!!

First of all…..use a QUALITY fabric!! I didn’t pick this binding and the fabric was a looser weave and it stretched all over the place. It was almost impossible to get a good mitered corner!!

Secondly, use your quilting gloves to help maneuver the quilt as you attach the binding…..

I only used a glove on one hand but it made a HUGE difference as I moved the quilt under the needle!!

Isn’t it amazing how much difference a couple of SIMPLE changes can make??
