One for the Hen House

I have been slowly detailing all of the UFO’s that are currently in my studio, including those that I have inherited over the years….. here is another one from my Mom.

As I have mentioned before, my Mom was a fantastic quilter and adored doing handwork, especially blanket-stitching around appliques.

A few years before she passed away, she started making a chicken quilt, finishing these 6 blocks before she lost interest in the project….

She also had several more patterns and loads of the chicken wire fabric.

My original thought was that I needed to make more chickens to make the quilt larger, but now I think I can finish it as it is, adding borders and quilting it well.

I am not sure what I will do with the finished project, but it will be nice to get it finished…

EVENTUALLY!

  1. Those chickens are delightful! My husband and I owned a B&B in the Catskill Mts. back in the early 2000s. We called it The Crowing Rooster B & B after my love of all things chickens and roosters. Your moms quilt made my day!
