JUST MARK IT!!

Do you have the idea that, if you are a FREE Motion Quilter, that you are NOT allowed to mark a top before you quilt?

Well, I have struggled with that idea this week. Check out the story ……

I am so glad to figure out that this was MY problem and that nothing bad was going to happen if I decided to physically mark a quilt top.

There may be much more marking in my future!!

Collective Wisdom

One thing that I love about quilters is the way that they encourage each other and how willing they are to share their “collective wisdom”.

Well, I am stuck and could use some help!!

Yesterday I finished quilting the inner section of the Quilt-Of-Valor…..

…and I am pleased with how it looks.

I added a few straight lines to the first two light blue borders….

I like how they look but MAY go back in a quilt something in that inner channel….we will see.

I am going to quilt stars in the narrow red border.

I plan to quilt the set of gold stars and red squares in a similar manner to the main section.

I have flags planned for the outside border.

SO….now the big question….

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO IN THE LARGER LIGHT BLUE SECTIONS?

Remember that I am trying to stick with the “stars and stripes” theme.

I really want to finish this up in the next few days so any and all ideas would be appreciated!!

A Little Bit of Inspiration….

I have realized that I am worried about the quilting on the Quilt-of-Valor that my friend, Marnie, and I are making.

I am worried that I don’t have a good inspiration for the quilting and that I am going to MESS IT UP ROYALLY!!

Well, last week I showed you my idea for quilting flags in the top and bottom border and that got me to thinking about STARS and STRIPES,

And, just like that, an inspiration was born!!

I love how these alternating blocks are looking….

…and now I can’t wait to get to Saturday so that I can spend a whole day working on it!!

What “sparks” of inspiration have moved you forward in your quilting?

Making the Geese Fly!!

Today we are supposed to be working on the borders of the Orange and Green Charity quilt, but time has gotten away from me, so instead let’s flashback to some great Dot-To-Dot Quilting…..

These simple lines are a great way to emphasize the movement in the Flying Geese blocks…..

I haven’t talked about this quilt in a while, but I love the “Crumbs For The Geese” design…..

Remember that there is pattern available that includes not only the written instructions, but a link to a private video about making flying geese blocks AND making crumb blocks.

You don’t want to miss it.

Dot to Dot to the rescue!!

As many of you know, I love Angela Walters and her quilting secrets.

One of my favorite designs is her “Dot to Dot” pattern.

It is flexible, fast and fun…..the three BEST “f”‘s!!!

AND, it was the perfect quilting to add to my Orange and Green Charity Quilt!!

I especially like the way the “boxes” encircle the previous quilting…..

Now it’s time to figure out a design for the green triangles!!

See you next Friday…..
