Quilting – TOO much or TOO little?

As I have mentioned, this summer I have been working on an online class called “Let’s Get Scrappy”. It is all about learning to use your scraps…..without losing your mind in the process!

If this sounds interesting to you, and if you would like first notice of when the class goes live, please click on the photo and leave me your information…..

In putting the class together, I made TWO samples, both identical in size but with different coloring….

To further distinguish them, I did a LOT of quilting on one and just a LITTLE quilting on the other….

Which do you like the best??

“Let’s Get Scrappy is about how to decide, not about what to make.”

Let’s Get Scrappy is an on-demand online course that helps quilters overcome decision fatigue and finally make sense of their overflowing scrap bins. With four hours of step-by-step video instruction, you’ll learn simple systems for organizing, piecing, and pressing your scraps—so you can stop overthinking and start sewing beautiful, coordinated quilts with confidence and joy.

OOPS…. I forgot one method!!

Last Friday, I talked about two methods of evenly spacing designs on a border.

The problem with this video…….there were supposed to be THREE methods!!

So, today let’s have a look at one more method…..

And honestly, this method using a Buttonhole Spacing Tool…..

….is my favorite!!

As I mentioned in the video, the gauge that I purchased from Amazon was not wonderful quality, but you might check out this one…..

It looks like it might be a little sturdier.

OR, this one from HoneySew might be okay as well…..

I have purchased several HoneySew products and they seem to be good quality.

So, next time you need to place a border design, pull out a sewing tool….

NO chopped off border designs here!!

Don’t you hate it when you are quilting a border and can’t figure out how to place the designs so that one isn’t CHOPPED OFF?

That was the dilemma presented to me by one listener, and this is my answer….

So, here are TWO methods of placing designs without chopping them off at the edges.

Hope one or both will help you!!

Do you swoop?

We all know that you are supposed to pull the bobbin thread up to the top of your sandwich before you start quilting.

But, sometimes that can get a bit messy!!

Check out my solution of doing the SWOOP…..

Isn’t that a super easy way to pull the bobbin thread up?

AND…it doesn’t require ANY special tools!!
