Inspiration by Email

I love it when I open my email and see an inspiration from a reader!!

On Thursday morning, I posted about being excited about curves and circles.

About 3 hours later, I received an email from Lynn with this photo…..

She was in a hotel in Wisconsin, read my morning blog email, noticed this picture, and decided that I might like to see it.

SHE WAS RIGHT!!

It has circles, lines, and FMQ designs….what could be better!!

Next Project???

Yesterday officially ended my super-busy tax season!!

Let us scream a collective HURRAH!!!!

That means it is time to start thinking about projects….more about that tomorrow!!

On to the inspiration…..

Two years ago, I spent a day exploring museums in Copenhagen while Michael was running around in the wilds. At one of the museums, I took a photo of this bench….

….completely enamored with the interlacing ovals in the back.

THAT reminds me of a Creative Grids ruler that I was given 2 years ago…..

MAYBE it is time to break this bad boy out and learn how to use it!!

Strip Quilt Idea

I saw this carpet at a convention several years ago….

The block is very basic, maybe something like this….

BUT, I played with the photo a bit and look what happened….

Wouldn’t it be fun to turn the squares into diamonds, maybe something like this….

THAT could be a lot of fun!!

…especially using scrap strips!!

Something else to add to the ever-growing To-Do list!!

Great inspiration

I so often find inspiration from other art forms, but lately seem to be hooked on “Zentangle” type drawings like this one…..

This was found on Facebook from “Art & Craft Moments”.

Wouldn’t this be fun to do in fabric, and you could keep expanding it out, and out, and out!!

AND, in the same vein….wouldn’t this make a wonderful Wholecloth quilt??

The inspirations just keep coming!!!

I’ve Been Thinking….

Yes, I have been thinking about which project I want to start working on when tax season is over….and after I have started and finished my “Cherrywood Challenge”. I am struggling with the decision.

For over a year, I have been talking about making a quilt based on the carpet from the Holiday Inn in Houston, but frankly, I am just NOT INTO IT!!

I have sporadically done some planning in the past 6 months…..

…even going so far as to make a practice piece….

I realized that I didn’t have enough of the original fabric I had bought…..

…. so I purchased another set….

Even after ALL of this, I am still not feeling it!!

A favorite Podcaster (Kendra Adachi of “The Lazy Genius”) has a brilliant system to categorize her “to-do” list…..

Now……Soon……Later….. and NEVER MIND!!

I am about to decide that this project belongs in the Never Mind category!!

BUT…. on Wednesday, I posted this photo and design idea…..

It was initially just a whim, but now I am starting to think about those original fabrics that I bought (luscious Cherrywood fabrics), and wondering if I could learn to piece Isosceles Diamonds (72-degrees).

I am thinking that this just might be my next project!!

Maybe it’s time to do some research and start making a sample!!

Do you know anything about this type of piecing???
