Last week I posted about the Pantone color of the year for 2022…..

A few days later, I decided to make a quilt for a friend who is having some health issues. The problem was that I had NO idea what her favorite colors were!!
I don’t know about you, but I have a HARD time coming up with a color palette from scratch and this choice was driving me crazy.
Then I remembered “Very Peri” and thought….”hmmmm…Periwinkle would be fun and cheery”!!!
I seldom make a quilt with just three or four fabrics but instead, prefer to pull three or more fabrics in each of the colorways which adds a bit of sparkle to the quilt.
I started by pulling a few periwinkle fabrics from my stash…..

….happy to find that this had been so easy!!!
But now, what was I going to mix with them??
Then I remembered the palettes that were shown on the Pantone website!! After consideration, I decided to use the “Balancing Act” palette……

I picked out three Rose fabrics…..

….three “Muted Clay” fabrics….

….and one “Granite Green” background fabric…..

I recognize that this final fabric is brighter and more blue-y than the color chip but it is a “Grunge” and you can’t go wrong with it!!!
I was now happy with my fabric choices….

and ready to start the pattern….or so I thought.
Stay tuned for the next installment!!!
