The next project on my list was making a baby quilt for a Niece who was having her second daughter.
This was the quilt that I made for the first daughter…..

Since she and her sister will be sharing the same room, I wanted to do something in the same vein.
First step was to pick some fabrics that were different than the first quilt…..but not TOO different!!
I was thinking of peach/pink and green again and this was the first set of fabrics that I pulled…..

Those didn’t all appeal to me so I kept pulling fabrics and, before I knew it, my table looked like this……

OKAY…..that is WAY TOO many fabrics.
Let’s start winnowing them down!!
After a lot of shifting fabrics from one pile to the other, I ended up with this stack….

I then cut one or two strips from each fabric, cutting across the full width of the fabric and varying the sizes from 2-inches to 4.5-inches.
I also selected my “focus strip and cut that one 10-inches.
Now came the fun part of laying the fabrics out and deciding on my strata…..

For this quilt, I decided to put the green colors together in pairs and found that this decision made the selections easier.
In previous quilts made with this idea, I found it easy to get the quilt too top heavy so I was more careful with this set.
But what was I going to make as the accent row?
They had mentioned a “Boho” look, so I started thinking about flowers from the 70’s. You know the ones that I mean…..simple flowers with big petals and circle centers.
I spent a bit of time with my Wonder Under and, voila…..there were flowers…..

So the top is finished……

Come back tomorrow and we have a look at the quilting!!

This is so pretty. Fascinating to watch the pull to final choice process. Editing is sometimes difficult. You have an amazing eye. Love the retro flowers.
Thanks Christie. You are TOO kind to me!! I have a love/hate relationship with the fabric pull!!
