This past week I had the privilege of spending three days with members of the Denton Quilt Guild in Denton, Texas….

Now, I was already excited about returning to my home-ground of Texas, but getting to spend time with these ladies was the icing on the cake!!
My arrival at the hotel was met with this wonderful hall carpet….

…definitely a sign of good things to come!!
My first task was to empty my carry-on suitcase so that all of the quilts had a few moments to breathe before being packed up for the meeting…..

After a sweet dinner with a group of guild members, we headed to the local arts community building where the meeting was held. The room was a small art gallery and contained numerous art pieces, including these two fun tile designs….

…and this very interesting, hanging sculpture…..

There was a good crowd there for the meeting…..

…and I VERY much enjoyed presenting “Viewing the World Thru Quilt Colored Glasses”!!

The next day, I was ferried to the “Box Car Quilts” shop and creative center, and spent 6 fun hours teaching about free-motion quilting….

This room had the PERFECT set up, with a place to show videos of the various techniques we were trying….

…and lots of room for machines and all other accoutrements!!
These ladies were SO willing to try new things…..

…and I came away highly encouraged with the progress that was made as the day progressed.
The quilt store itself….“Box Car Quilts” , carried an amazing array of products,

The store is at the end of a long country road, but the area is dotted with several conference/retreat centers and other amazing facilities for quilters.
Oh, to live in Denton!!
But, as usual, it was fun to reach the top of the escalator in the Atlanta Airport…..

…and be met by my sweet husband, Michael!!
Now, this is not the last you will hear about the Denton Quilters Guild!! I was so impressed with the group and their ideas, and my plan is to do another post very soon.

One of my favorite things about quilting is motivating others and helping them in their quilting journey. As part of this endeavor, I LOVE to present programs and workshops to groups and guilds around the world. All of my programs work well with Zoom meetings, and I would love to speak to your group.

Frances,
We enjoyed spending time with you too! Thank you!
Tonya
We really enjoyed your visit! O know that I am now looking at carpet in a whole new way.
It was such fun Debbie. Definitely makes me want to move back to Texas!! And no, you will NEVER look at flooring the same way!!
I was at the meeting and next days class. I thoroughly enjoyed both. Thank you for the extra tip for free motion quilting. Glad I was able to go to the class.. I learned a lot to help me improve my free motion skills. Working with you was a pleasure. You taught me to look at things in a different way and turn those observations into decorative quilting. I will count you a a friend and You’ll always be welcome in Denton.
It was so wonderful to meet you Linda. I am glad that you are looking at things differently now….more “quiltily”!! I hope to see you again!!
