Some More Piecing at IQF

On Monday, we worked our way through half of my favorites in the piecing category. Let’s finish them up today….

“Echoes of Creation: by Rex Shrauner

Rex said that he basically designed the quilt for the negative space and he made perfect use of that space….

“California Huipil” by Allison Lockwood

The fun embellishments and embroidery add much to the quilt….

“Irregular Chain” by Daisy Aschehoug

In creating this quilt, she experimented with curved strip sets. I would say that the experiment was successful!!

“Paradigm Shift II” by Amy Krasnansky

When you look at this quilt, remember that it is about 14 inches square….

“Perseverance” by Janet Smith

2,401 pieces, cut at 1/4-inch wide…. YIKES!!!

At first look, this quilt seems fairly simple….

“Heavenly Abode” by Robyn Holden

Each of those “patches” that make up the design are pieced as well…..

This Ingenious quilt is designed in 4 parts and can be hung in an infinite variety of ways, making a new design with each change…..

“No Direction Home: by Randa Mulford

These designs are based on Seminole patterns!

“Garden Twists” by Karen Eckmeier

Aren’t these “color twist” blocks fun….

This next quilt is outstanding…..

“Black & White & Red All Over” by Randa Mulford

She took the classic “Millefiori design and went crazy with it!! Look how perfect these blocks are….

I especially like how the red stars escape the design and head off into the border!!

“Dazzling Starburst” by Romana Frys

All I can say is WOW…. Look at those points and look at that amazing quilting….

Well, that ends the Pieced tour….be sure to come back for more from the International Quilt Festival!!
