Blooming at IQF

On Tuesday, we looked at one of my favorite exhibits at the International Quilt Festival, and this is the other one….. IN FULL BLOOM”. This exhibit showcases floral-inspired quilts from across the spectrum in lush color and splendor.

WHAT COULD BE BETTER!!!

“In Bloom” by Geraldine Warner

This improvisational piecing style is SO OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE, so of course, I am drawn to it!!

“Sunflower” by Tasha Owen

This was painted, printed on fabric, and quilted.

“Oh My Garden” by Karen West

The “Broderie Perse” style of applique was certainly put to good use.

“Blooming Flower of Happiness” by Liu-Chi Yung-Yun

It is hard to show on a photo, but you can see where she added a lighter piece of fabric to many darker strips to give them a 3-dimensional look….

Ingenious!!

“Boho Ficus Elastica” by Rosell Crockett

I have shown this quilt several times on the blog because it was made by my friend Rosie!! I would NEVER have thought to use the black-and-white fabric as an accent on each leaf, but oh my, does it ever work!!!

“Las Calas de Valdivia” by Pilar Donoso

“Whispers of the Acacia” by Bejarano Tzitzi

The “minimalist” view is perfect for this quilt!!

AND, look how the bias tape was applied…..

Isn’t that ingenious!!

“Ephemeral Peonies” by Yoly Tovar, quilted by Angie Roux

Having tried, AND FAILED, a Mileifiori design, I am in AWE of this one!!

I could go on and on about the quilts in this category, but I will leave it here!!

Keep coming back for more!!
