Quilt Con Retreat

According to my calendar, I should be at Quilt Con right now!!

Michael had a conference in Nashville this week, and I needed to attend to help with photography and recording.

We had planned to come back on Friday, and then I was leaving EARLY Saturday morning to drive 6 hours to Raleigh for Quilt Con.

I figured I could spend a few hours on Saturday, return Sunday morning for a few more hours, and then drive home that afternoon.

But going into this week, I realized I was already tired and would return completely EXHAUSTED… not a good idea…

ESPECIALLY since it is still tax season!!

SO, I decided to stay home this weekend and spend a lot of time in my studio.

No, I won’t get much CPA work done, but it will be relaxing, and I will arrive on Monday morning refreshed and ready to work.

It has been a hard decision, but I remember how exhaustion affected my creativity last year, and I do NOT want to repeat that scenario!!

…..

Stay tuned for stories from my Q-C Retreat!!!

  1. IMHO you made a good choice. I went this year–it’s only 90 minutes from me–but probably won’t again. It was too crowded; quilts hung too close together to see them well and arranged in odd sections such that I wasn’t sure I’d seen them all when it was over. Plus, the quilts will be all over the internet anyway. Good thing is, I went with friends so at least I had fun.

    1. I am so sorry to hear that it wasn’t as enjoyable for you Mary. It is hard when the floor is so crowded, and I too get stressed worrying whether I have seen everything. But, a trip with friends sounds like the perfect event!! And, I definitely made the right decision. Tomorrow morning I have to hit my work HARD and I feel so much more rested after my QC-Retreat!!

  2. Wise decision, Frances…..so often we can run ourselves into the ground trying to jam everything into our lives. Result is exhaustion with little enjoyment. Enjoy your studio and keep track of Quiltcon quilts on line…..you’ll be more receptive to creative ideas!

    1. That is exactly how I felt Linda. Last year, I worked myself into exhaustion and I did NOT want to do that again.!! So far, it has been a great decision and I have enjoyed my QC retreat!!
