Carpenter’s Laser Square

A carpenter’s tool that has become one of my favorite quilting tools!

The Bosch Laser Square projects two laser lines at a perfect 90-degree angle. Instead of wrestling with long rulers when squaring a large quilt, I can use the laser lines as guides for getting everything straight and square.

WHY I LIKE IT

I used to dread squaring up a large quilt.

I would start in one corner with a big square ruler, add my 24-inch ruler, and then slowly work my way around the quilt. The problem was that a tiny error at the beginning could become a much bigger error by the time I reached the other side.

Then I discovered a carpenter’s laser square.

I position it at a corner and use the two 90-degree laser lines to establish my cutting lines. Those lines extend much farther than any ruler I own, making it easier to see whether the quilt is actually square before I start cutting.

It’s fast, easy, and gives me a lot more confidence when trimming a finished quilt.
