I love a rotating mat when I’m trimming blocks because I can make one cut, swivel the mat, and make the next cut without disturbing the block or ruler placement.
That makes it especially useful for squaring blocks and trimming units that require cuts on several sides. Instead of reaching across the mat or turning the fabric after every cut, the mat does the moving for you.
The CutterPillar Swivel has a nice-sized cutting surface without taking over the entire sewing table.
One of those tools you don’t absolutely need — but once you use one, it’s awfully nice to have.
