Quilters Rule 6×24 Ruler

If you’re going to own one quilting ruler, make it a 6 × 24.

This is the ruler I reach for constantly — cutting strips, squaring fabric, trimming blocks, and making those long cuts that a smaller ruler just can’t handle.

A basic tool that earns its keep in the sewing room.

WHY I LIKE IT

A 6 × 24 ruler is one of the workhorses of my quilting room. The extra length lets me cut across the width of folded fabric without having to reposition the ruler, while the 6-inch width gives me plenty of room for measuring and lining things up.

I particularly like the Quilter’s Rule version because the markings are molded into the ruler rather than simply printed on the surface, so they won’t wear away with use.

If you’re putting together your basic quilting tools, this is one of the rulers I would buy first.
