A great resource when you know where you need to quilt — but aren’t sure what to quilt there.
Angela Walters organizes free-motion quilting ideas by the spaces we actually encounter on quilts: blocks, backgrounds, borders, and different shapes.
Open the book. Find the space. Find an idea.
WHY I LIKE IT
I like Shape by Shape because it approaches quilting designs in a very practical way. Instead of simply giving me a collection of motifs, it helps me think about what might work in a particular area of my quilt.
I can look for ideas for squares, triangles, borders, backgrounds, and other spaces, then adapt those ideas to fit the quilt I’m working on.
Like most of my favorite quilting books, I don’t necessarily use a design exactly as shown. I use it to get my brain moving when I’m wondering what to quilt next.
A very useful book for turning “What do I quilt here?” into possibilities.
