New quilt idea..

I know, I know….the last thing that I need is a new quilt idea….

But hear me out!!

Sometime in my life, I downloaded a photo of these designs….

At various times in my life, I have looked at them and thought about what kind of quilt they would make.

Look in particular at the top right one…..

It wouldn’t necessarily be easy to piece as there are a bunch of curves, but look what happens when you put a bunch of them together……

I especially like the circles that appear in the design.

But, as I thought about all of those curves, I started wondering what would happen if you changed them to straight lines…..

It doesn’t have quite the same feel, but would sure be easier to piece!!

And, if you squint, you can still see the circles!

Wouldn’t it be fun in a color-wash type of design?

So, will I ever make this quilt?

Probably not.

Did I have fun thinking about it and creating a plan?

ABSOLUTELY!!

I used to feel guilty about planning quilts that I will never make but I have finally come to grips with the fact that imaginary creating is just as important as actual creating!!

Do you agree?

Scraps in the Bathroom

I love walking into new bathrooms in random places….such as the Toronto airport.

On our last trip, I was greeted with this wall…..

Just look at all of the block sizes and orientations and how they fit together into a cohesive design……

This may need some further exploration!!

I know….I know…. I’ll add it to my ever-growing To-Do list!!

Unexpected Murals

I love it when you turn a corner and there is an unexpected display of art.

This convenience store near my church is one of those…..

It is often covered up by cars parked along the wall, but I was excited to see it open and ready for photography!!

Thank you to WHOEVER painted it AND whoever commissioned it!!

NASA Eclipse Photo

Now this has nothing to do with quilting, but isn’t this an amazing photo…..

It was taken by NASA of the recent eclipse.

The Natural World is truly amazing.

NOW….having said that it had nothing to do with quilting….

As I looked at it, wouldn’t it be fun to FMQ those arcs coming off of the center circle. They are such graceful shapes and would be amazing done in various colors of thread.

SEE….I TOLD YOU…..

I have QUILTING on the BRAIN!!

So much for my “non-quilting” photo.

Interlaced pipes

Wouldn’t this be a fun pattern to make???

I can imagine having all of those interlacing “pipes” in various colors. This might be fun for a fabric challenge…..maybe the upcoming MQG fabric challenge??
