You have possibly already heard this, but Pantone announced that its 2026 “Color of the Year” is…..
They REALLY went minimalist this year!
This is their description….
A lofty white that serves as a symbol of calming influence in a society rediscovering the value of quiet reflection. A billowy white imbued with serenity, Cloud Dancer encourages true relaxation and focus, allowing the mind to wander and creativity to breathe, making room for innovation.
My first thought was…..WHY?
This is not a color that I can get super excited about. I am not going to run upstairs and make a quilt using it!
But, as I looked at two of the palettes they suggested…..
“Powdered Pastels”
“Light and Shadow”
….I can see that it is a simple but nice color and that it reflects a calmness we all can use!!
So Pantone, I am sorry that I didn’t trust you!!
Will you use this color as the basis for a new project?

A few weeks ago Pantone released their 2025 Color of the year.
Meet MOCHA MOUSSE…..
Which reminds me that I have a marvelous Mousse recipe that I haven’t made in YEARS…..must get on to that!!
To remind you, last year’s color was…..
….which frankly did nothing to inspire my creativity.
But, this creamy chocolate color has so many options!!
As they say on the website….
For Pantone Color of the Year 2025, we look to a mellow brown hue whose inherent richness and sensorial and comforting warmth extends further into our desire for comfort, and the indulgence of simple pleasures that we can gift and share with others.
They also have a few suggested color palettes including these two…..
“Relaxed Excellence”“Floral Pathways”
Both of those have some possibilities!!
I am hoping to play with this some more in the future and do a fabric pull from my stash…..
Doesn’t that sound fun!!

Each year I wait (with baited breath) to learn what color has been selected by Pantone as their color of the year.
In 2022, I made a quilt based on the Periwinkle color…..
….and last year I used “Viva Magenta” as the basis for this quilt……
“Crossing Hemispheres”
So, I was excited when I saw that the 2024 color had been named……
However, I am having a hard time coming up with any excitement about using it!!
Right now it seems a rather bland and uninteresting color but that probably just means that I need to play with it some and add other colors that will highlight it.
OKAY….add that to my future quilts to-do list!!!
What would you do with this color?

Yesterday I posted about the 2023 Pantone Color of the Year……
THEN, I started searching for color palettes that included this vivacious color!! Man, did I hit the jackpot!
And if that weren’t enough, look at these wedding shoots that used Viva Magenta as well.
I especially love the Indian wedding!!
I am sure that you have noticed that in most cases, this color was used as a contrast or just to add that “POP” of color that we are always looking for!!
I think that I can enjoy using Viva Magenta in my projects, but probably NOT as the main color……we will see!!
