Woodland Walk

Back in December, I posted about the “Into the Woods” fabric collection…..

….created by Sarah Watson and produced by Cloud9 Fabrics.

I spent a lot of time thinking about patterns and ideas and played for a long time on Electric Quilt. Here are a few of the designs that I considered…..

Sarah and I decided that we liked the third one best, but when I started laying it out…..

…..I realized that adding the dark cross in the corner made the design too heavy.

I changed it to simple triangles……

….and really liked the arrows that appeared!!! They seem to work well with the “Woodland Walk” theme…..

I had a wonderful time making the quilt top….

….and kept the quilting simple with only straight lines.

And now, I present…….

“Woodland Walk”

It is a great quilt to highlight these amazing fabrics, but it would also be fun to make using flower fabrics (“Garden Walk”) or maybe ocean fabrics (“Beach Walk”).

You get the idea!!!!

The pattern for this quilt is now available for purchase. Check out the details on my “Patterns for Sale” page.

Sarah’s fabric can be found in local quilt shops or online……

ENJOY!!!!

Crumbs For the Geese

I am happy to say that “Crumbs for the Geese” is officially finished.

I am super pleased with how it turned out…..

Crumbs for the Geese

This odyssey started back in September when I watched a video about making Crumb Blocks….of course, I was on the treadmill at the time!!! I made the first three and was hooked.

Once all 9 were finished, I started thinking about additions to the quilt and came up with the idea of adding Flying Geese blocks. After a bit of trial and error, I found the perfect mixture of geese and background fabric.

The top languished for a short time as I thought thru how to quilt it but the holiday season provided time and inspiration!! In particular, I love the mixture of straight lines in the geese and squiggles in the background!!

Now came the hard part….writing the pattern!!! Since I was new to this process, I spent a fair amount of time studying other patterns and trying to determine the best solution for me.

I am happy to present a pattern that contains step-by-step instructions and access to an exclusive video showing the crumb block process and hints for making flying geese.

And….the pattern is available for purchase!!! Just click on the “Patterns for Sale” tab at the top of this post.
