Quotes for the day

I have to admit that I am not a huge reader…..if I have extra time, I tend to work on something creative.  Having said that, I have recently been reading “My Life In France” by Julia Child.

It is a fun book, and is full of her wonderful descriptions of the sights and sounds of  her time while living in France.  There are two quotes that I really appreciated.    As a background, her husband, Paul was a photographer and an artist and both of these quotes relate to him…..

“His motivation for making paintings and photographs wasn’t fame or riches:  his pleasure in the act of creating  “the thing itself” was reward enough.”

And secondly……

“I  discovered that when one follows the artist’s eye one sees unexpected treasures in so many seemingly ordinary scenes.”

Aren’t these wonderful!!!

How many times do we rush thru our quilts and projects with the idea that we MUST GET IT FINISHED and, in doing so, lose the great enjoyment that comes from the act of simply creating the art.   AND, how many times do we rush past the ordinary things in life to “get to the important ones” and miss unexpected treasures along the way!!!

Here’s to slowing down and enjoying the process and slowing down and appreciating the ordinary!!!

Have a great weekend!!!!!
