One of the exhibits from the 2024 International Quilt Festival is called “Hands All Around”. It includes quilts from international artists who were inspired by their culture, geography, and surroundings.

This is a rendition of a brooch owned by Queen Lilioukalani of Hawaii. Even today, she inspries and guides the Hawaiian people.
….

This quilt is a reconstruction of the spirit engraved on the Emile Bell made in Korea in 771.
I love the emblem quilted in one corner….

I also love the hexagon background. It adds so much interest to the piece!
…

This was inspired by the Song-Kwangang-Sa in Korea.
The rendering of the stone is wonderful!!

….

As you might guess, this quilt was based on the “Day of the Dead”.
Genevieve also quilted this one…..

….

This was inspired by the corals, seaweed and shellfish under the sea!
I love all of the techniques and materials that she used….

Finally…..

This is inspired by Tabasco bottles in chow halls during her 30-year military career!! The dress is hanging on a Live Oak tree in Avery, Louisiana, the birthplace of Tabasco sauce!! How fun!!
I truly like this exhibit because of the inspirations that were used for the quilts. Each quilter has a personal connection with the subject and that makes them special!!
