Yes, I have been thinking about which project I want to start working on when tax season is over….and after I have started and finished my “Cherrywood Challenge”. I am struggling with the decision.
For over a year, I have been talking about making a quilt based on the carpet from the Holiday Inn in Houston, but frankly, I am just NOT INTO IT!!
I have sporadically done some planning in the past 6 months…..

…even going so far as to make a practice piece….

I realized that I didn’t have enough of the original fabric I had bought…..

…. so I purchased another set….

Even after ALL of this, I am still not feeling it!!
A favorite Podcaster (Kendra Adachi of “The Lazy Genius”) has a brilliant system to categorize her “to-do” list…..
Now……Soon……Later….. and NEVER MIND!!
I am about to decide that this project belongs in the Never Mind category!!
BUT…. on Wednesday, I posted this photo and design idea…..

It was initially just a whim, but now I am starting to think about those original fabrics that I bought (luscious Cherrywood fabrics), and wondering if I could learn to piece Isosceles Diamonds (72-degrees).
I am thinking that this just might be my next project!!
Maybe it’s time to do some research and start making a sample!!
Do you know anything about this type of piecing???

In my opinion, this type of diamond design would be most accurately pieced by English Paper Piecing. It certainly is intriguing and would look very interesting using the various Cherrywood hues you have on hand rather than just the aqua and black colors of the tile mosaic.
I agree that EPP will be easiest, but I am going to try machine piecing it first. I love piecing 60-degree diamonds so I am hoping that the technique will be similar!! We will see!!
Ditto the above. EPP would be a great approach. Not a fast project but the accuracy is so satisfying. Love the idea of multiple colors.
Now Christie….have you ever seen me do something the easy way!! I am going to try to machine piece it!!
You are one of the best figure-outters I know. I can’t wait to see how you do this.
It will be a challenge!!
I would recommend Englush Paper Piecing for this, it’s the perfect project for it. I mainly piece by machine but I find it nice to have a hand piecing project from time to time. They are very relaxing and portable
I have pretty much come to that same conclusion Jackie. And, eventhough I am not big into hand work, you may have convinced me to try it!!! Thanks!!
